Durante la ceremonia por el 26° aniversario de la operación Chavín de Huántar, la mandataria sostuvo que esta acción militar constituye una prueba fehaciente de la lucha exitosa de las Fuerzas Armadas contra el terror, y resaltó la valentía de los comandos que participaron en ella.

“No solo rescataron al Perú de los sanguinarios brazos del terrorismo, dieron un mensaje firme y claro: que nadie se atreva a amenazar nuestra libertad, que nadie pretenda socavar la democracia ni impida nuestro derecho a la paz, el progreso y el desarrollo”, afirmó.

Asimismo, la jefa de Estado dijo que el Gobierno fortalecerá la lucha frontal y sin tregua contra la delincuencia, con más policías en las calles y con mayores recursos e instrumentos legales.

“Enfrentamos a la delincuencia y criminalidad, que no solo les arrebata sus pertenencias a nuestras ciudadanas y ciudadanos, sino también sus propias vidas, generando dolor y zozobra. No estamos dispuestos a seguir tolerando a estos enemigos de la sociedad”, enfatizó la dignataria.

“Con diálogo y consenso, con eficiencia y transparencia, con energía y coraje, cumpliremos la misión de sacar adelante a nuestro país y trazar un rumbo de progreso, de justicia social y bienestar para todas las peruanas y peruanos”, añadió la presidenta Boluarte.

El 22 de abril de 1997, un grupo militar formado por 195 integrantes de las Fuerzas Especiales del Ejército y de la Marina de Guerra, con el invaluable apoyo de un grupo de mineros, ejecutó la operación Chavín de Huántar en la residencia del embajador de Japón en Lima.

Dicha acción permitió el rescate de 72 rehenes que permanecían cautivos desde el 17 de diciembre de 1996 por miembros del Movimiento Revolucionario Túpac Amaru (MRTA).

La jefa de Estado participó en la ceremonia de hoy junto a los ministros de Defensa, Jorge Chávez; del Interior, Vicente Romero; de Desarrollo e Inclusión Social, Julio Demartini; el titular del Congreso, José Williams, autoridades militares, exintegrantes del GEIN, los comandos Chavín de Huántar y sus familiares, y el embajador de Japón en Perú, Kazuyuki Katayama.
