En esta histórica reunión conjunta, tanto la jefa de Estado como los titulares de ambas instituciones ratificaron el compromiso de seguir trabajando en proyectos que impulsen el desarrollo de peruanas y peruanos en áreas como salud, educación, vivienda, transporte, y agua y saneamiento.

La mandataria agradeció el apoyo que tanto el BM como el BID han brindado a la fecha, y resaltó que sigan viendo al Perú como país al cual apostar por su desarrollo y crecimiento.

“Queremos seguir contando con ustedes en lo que nos falta por hacer; resolver, por ejemplo, el tema del agua y desagüe a lo largo y ancho del país y mejorar la calidad de vida de la población”, dijo la dignataria tras enfatizar su compromiso en la lucha contra la corrupción.

Según remarcó, en gestiones pasadas se perdieron millones de soles por la corrupción en perjuicio del avance del país, pero su gobierno tiene la responsabilidad de enfrentar ese problema y dejar bases sólidas en favor de la educación, salud, carreteras y agricultura.

Por su parte, los titulares del BM y del BID coincidieron en la importancia de la reunión con la presidenta Boluarte, ante quien expresaron estar alineados con el Perú en la atención de los desafíos del país en materia económica, social e, incluso, climática.

El BM, a través del Banco Internacional de Reconstrucción y Fomento (BIRF), tiene en el Perú una cartera de operaciones por US$ 1 663,72 millones, enfocados en financiar proyectos de inversión en agricultura, ambiente, justicia, producción, salud, saneamiento y transporte, entre otros. El BID, en tanto, posee una cartera de operaciones por US$ 2 664,1 millones, destinados al financiamiento de proyectos en transporte, saneamiento, salud, justicia y agricultura.

Banga ejerce la presidencia del BM desde el pasado 2 de junio y Perú es el primer destino que visita en la región. De igual forma, es la primera visita que realiza Goldfajn al país como titular del BID, cargo para el que fue elegido en noviembre del año pasado.

En esta reunión, la mandataria estuvo acompañada por el jefe del Gabinete Ministerial, Alberto Otárola; y los ministros de Relaciones Exteriores, Ana Cecilia Gervasi; de Economía y Finanzas, Alex Contreras, y de Vivienda, Construcción y Saneamiento, Hania Pérez de Cuéllar.

In this historic joint meeting, both the Head of State and the heads of both institutions ratified the commitment to continue working on projects that promote the development of Peruvians in areas such as health, education, housing, transportation, and water and sanitation.

The president thanked the support that both the WB and the IDB have provided to date, and stressed that they continue to see Peru as a country to bet on for its development and growth.

“We want to continue counting on you in what we still have to do; resolve, for example, the issue of water and drainage throughout the country and improve the quality of life of the population”, said the dignitary after emphasizing her commitment to the fight against corruption.

As he remarked, in past administrations millions of soles were lost due to corruption to the detriment of the country’s progress, but his government has the responsibility to face this problem and leave solid foundations in favor of education, health, roads and agriculture.

For their part, the heads of the WB and the IDB agreed on the importance of the meeting with President Boluarte, before whom they expressed their alignment with Peru in addressing the country’s challenges in economic, social and even climate matters.

The World Bank, through the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BIRF), has a portfolio of operations in Peru for US$ 1,663.72 million, focused on financing investment projects in agriculture, the environment, justice, production, health, sanitation and transportation, among others.
