Se trata de un importante evento internacional que promueve la OMT para reunir a los gobiernos de la región con el objetivo de debatir y presentar propuestas que contribuyan a la formulación de políticas turísticas y estrategias en materia de planificación, marketing, desarrollo de recursos humanos y de productos.

Esta elección se ha realizado en el marco de la edición 68° de la Comisión Regional para las Américas, celebrada el 27 y 28 de junio, en Ecuador. La viceministra de Turismo, Madeleine Burns, y la directora de general de Políticas de Desarrollo Turístico, Isabel Mendoza, acudieron en representación del Mincetur.

“La selección del Perú como sede de la subsiguiente reunión de la CAM representa una vitrina importante para posicionar al país, su gente, sus recursos y sus potencialidades, como destino apto para grandes eventos. Además, nos permite fortalecernos en los espacios de cooperación internacional en turismo”, señaló la viceministra.

Al cierre del evento, el Perú pudo también renovar su participación en el “Comité del Programa y del Presupuesto” y logró un lugar en el Grupo de Trabajo sobre “Rediseñar el turismo para el Futuro”, resultados que permitirán fortalecer el trabajo técnico que realiza el Mincetur para potenciar la reactivación del turismo, aumentar las oportunidades de cooperación internacional y continuar compartiendo el expertise regional en pro de impulsar la atracción de turistas internacionales tanto al país como a la región.

En este punto, se debe considerar que el Grupo de Trabajo en mención se encuentra conformado por dos representantes de cada comisión regional de la OMT, siendo Perú y Uruguay los representantes de las Américas.

Es preciso mencionar que las comisiones regionales se reúnen una vez al año y están integradas por todos los Estados Miembros Efectivos y Asociados de cada región. En el caso de las Américas, la última sesión juntó a 20 países, quienes se comprometieron a practicar un turismo más ético e inclusivo.

SEMINARIOS
En el marco de la reunión, el Perú participó también en el “Seminario sobre Inversiones Sostenibles”, espacio que abordó temas relacionados a las inversiones verdes, infraestructura turística, mega inversiones y ciudades inteligentes.

La viceministra Burns acudió como ponente en el panel ministerial. Allí compartió la experiencia del Perú en la búsqueda de un equilibrio entre el crecimiento económico, el desarrollo turístico y la preservación de los recursos naturales y culturales.

At this point, it should be considered that the aforementioned Working Group is made up of two representatives from each UNWTO regional commission, with Peru and Uruguay being the representatives of the Americas.

It should be mentioned that the regional commissions meet once a year and are made up of all the Full and Associate Member States of each region. In the case of the Americas, the last session brought together 20 countries, who committed to practicing more ethical and inclusive tourism.

SEMINARS
Within the framework of the meeting, Peru also participated in the “Sustainable Investment Seminar”, a space that addressed issues related to green investments, tourism infrastructure, mega investments and smart cities.

Deputy Minister Burns attended the ministerial panel as a speaker. There he shared the experience of Peru in the search for a balance between economic growth, tourism development and the preservation of natural and cultural resources.
