“Vengo con la convicción de que la Amazonía no solo es el pulmón del mundo, sino, el corazón del planeta”, sostuvo la jefa de Estado durante su intervención en la IV Reunión de Presidentes de los Estados partes en el Tratado de Cooperación Amazónica, que lidera el presidente de Brasil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

La mandataria refirió que la Amazonía es el hogar de casi 5 millones de peruanas y peruanos y de 50 millones de sudamericanos, por lo que la prioridad debe ser responder a las necesidades de bienestar de los ciudadanos, en especial, de las comunidades nativas y originarias que habitan esta región.

AMAZONÍA CON ROSTRO HUMANO
Durante su intervención, la jefa de Estado planteó una Amazonía con rostro humano, que desarrolle políticas públicas que involucren a todos los niveles de gobierno, que reconozcan las potencialidades de las actividades que se desenvuelven en esta región, que impulse obras de infraestructura y acciones conjuntas para proteger a las personas y entidades defensoras de derechos humanos y del medio ambiente, y que se reconozca la cultura e identidad de los pueblos indígenas y de las comunidades locales.

“Una Amazonía con rostro humano significa que, a la región Amazónica, un territorio soberano de nuestros ocho países, se le debe reconocer como fuente de vida para toda la humanidad”, refirió.

En ese marco, la presidenta Boluarte propuso a los mandatarios que participan en la Cumbre Amazónica una alianza firme y clara para frenar los delitos ambientales, en especial, la tala y la minería ilegal, el tráfico de drogas y de especies, y la contaminación, que destruyen la Amazonía.

“Como la primera mujer en asumir la presidencia de la república, he venido a defender a nuestra Amazonía e impulsar su desarrollo integral, inclusivo y sostenible. Esperamos que esta cumbre transmita un mensaje claro al mundo: los países amazónicos asumimos plenamente nuestra responsabilidad soberana, pero necesitamos el apoyo activo y concreto de la comunidad internacional para superar nuestros desafíos”, manifestó.

Finalmente, la jefa de Estado invitó a su homólogo de Brasil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a visitar pronto el Perú, para profundizar más la integración y transformar la gobernanza de la Amazonía.

Within this framework, President Boluarte proposed to the leaders participating in the Amazon Summit a firm and clear alliance to curb environmental crimes, especially illegal logging and mining, drug and species trafficking, and pollution, that destroy the Amazon.

“As the first woman to assume the presidency of the republic, I have come to defend our Amazon and promote its comprehensive, inclusive and sustainable development. We hope that this summit will send a clear message to the world: the Amazon countries fully assume our sovereign responsibility, but we need the active and concrete support of the international community to overcome our challenges”, he stated.

Finally, the Head of State invited her Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to visit Peru soon, to further deepen integration and transform the governance of the Amazon.
