La reunión fue en el despacho de la Presidencia del Parlamento, con la participación de los vicepresidentes del Congreso, Hernando Guerra García y Rosselli Amuruz.

El titular del Parlamento aseguró que el Congreso de la República actúa en respeto a la Constitución Política y las leyes vigentes, por lo que -recalcó- no se permitirá que se vulneren los derechos fundamentales.

En la cita, el decano nacional del CPP, Ricardo Burgos, expresó su preocupación por la iniciativa del Poder Ejecutivo que “buscaría criminalizar el libre ejercicio profesional de periodistas y comunicadores en el país”.

Advirtió que esa propuesta estaría incluida, “como contrabando”, en el pedido de facultades legislativas solicitadas al Parlamento.

En ese contexto, el titular del Parlamento dejó en claro que ese poder del Estado no comparte “las normas de contrabando” y que no es una mesa de partes del Poder Ejecutivo. Agregó que son las comisiones ordinarias las que analizan técnicamente las propuestas legislativas antes de que lleguen, para su debate, al Pleno.

Seguidamente, el primer vicepresidente del Congreso, Hernando Guerra García, dijo compartir la preocupación de una supuesta vulneración de los derechos fundamentales.

Se comprometió a trasladar “la reflexión del CPP” hacia su grupo parlamentario y a la presidenta de la Comisión de Constitución y Reglamento, que pertenece a su bancada y que está abocada a dictaminar el pedido de delegación de facultades.

En tanto, la tercera vicepresidenta Rosselli Amuruz indicó que jamás permitirá que se vulneren los derechos constitucionales y señaló ser respetuoso de la labor profesional de los periodistas y comunicadores.

“La libertad de prensa y de empresa son fundamentales”, acotó.

Ante de culminar la reunión, el decano nacional del CPP entregó a los parlamentarios un pronunciamiento de su colegiado en el que se “llama la atención del Congreso de la República para no sobre legislar en materia de derechos fundamentales amparados en nuestra Carta Magna y convenios internacionales”.

También estuvo presente el vicedecano nacional y la directora nacional de Economía de la CPP, Edwin Sarmiento y Stephanie Pinedo, respectivamente.
