La jefa de Estado felicitó a todos los hombres y mujeres del Ejército del Perú y resaltó que dicha institución castrense es garante de la paz y de la seguridad nacional, y contribuye al proceso de desarrollo nacional, en beneficio de la población, sobre todo de los sectores más vulnerables.
“El Ejército del Perú, a través de la historia, se ha comportado a la altura de este compromiso, pues aún en los escenarios más difíciles supo enfrentar al adversario mejor preparado y equipado, ofrendando estoicamente la vida de sus soldados, en defensa del honor y de la dignidad de la patria”, resaltó.
La mandataria precisó que las actuales circunstancias exigen que el Ejército esté en capacidad de brindar las condiciones de seguridad y confianza que el país requiere.
“Esta situación genera la necesidad de impulsar, con responsabilidad, procesos de modernización en los cuales ustedes ya se encuentran trabajando, razón por la cual les expreso mis felicitaciones y el compromiso de apoyo de mi gobierno”, sostuvo.
La mandataria recordó que como parte de este compromiso, en mayo de este año se firmó un convenio entre el Ministerio de Salud (Minsa), el Seguro Integral de Salud (SIS) y el Ministerio de Defensa (Mindef), el cual permite que los miembros del servicio militar voluntario y sus familiares sean afiliados gratuitamente al SIS para ser atendidos en postas, hospitales y establecimientos del MINSA.
La jefa de Estado, finalmente, destacó que este año el Ejército del Perú adquirió maquinaria por un monto de 137 millones de soles. “Estos equipos se encuentran distribuidos en todo el país y permitirán hacer frente al impacto de daños y efectos causados por los fenómenos naturales”, afirmó.
