Todd Christofferson, del Cuórum de los Doce Apóstoles, concluyeron los actos de sesión de dedicación del Templo de Lima Perú Los Olivos, de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos Últimos Días, en el distrito de San Martín de Porres, en Lima.

El Templo de Lima Perú Los Olivos, el segundo templo en la ciudad de Lima, el cuarto en el Perú y el número 187 de la Iglesia en el mundo, en presencia de cientos de miembros de la Iglesia. La ceremonia fue transmitida a todos los miembros del distrito del templo, quienes participaron de la misma desde sus centros de reuniones.

El élder D. Todd Christofferson, del cuórum de los Doce Apóstoles presidió la ceremonia de dedicación en dos sesiones: 10:00 a. m. y 1:30 p. m. El apóstol estuvo acompañado de su esposa Katherine; el élder Kevin R. Duncan, Setenta Autoridad General y director ejecutivo del Departamento de Templos, y su esposa Nancy; el élder Jorge F. Zeballos, Setenta Autoridad General y presidente del Área Sudamérica Noroeste de la Iglesia, y su esposa, Carmen Gloria, y el élder Juan Pablo Villar, Setenta Autoridad General, y su esposa Carol.

UN TEMPLO DE FE
“El nuevo templo de Los Olivos es una respuesta a las oraciones de muchos miembros de la Iglesia que, a través de los años, han sido fieles en la fe en Jesucristo”, expresó José Piscoya Velásquez, miembro pionero de la Estaca Carabayllo.

“Sé que las personas al entrar en este hermoso templo sentirán ese mismo amor que Dios me ha dado a través de los años”, declaró Leonor Figueroa, miembro pionera de la Estaca San Felipe.

HISTORIA TEMPLO DE LIMA PERÚ LOS OLIVOS
En abril de 2016, el presidente de La Iglesia, Thomas S. Monson, anunció la construcción de un segundo templo en Lima, Perú, y la construcción se inició con una apertura formal el 8 de junio de 2019. La oración dedicatoria del terreno fue ofrecida por élder Enrique Falabella.

Durante el programa de puertas abiertas para el nuevo templo, miembros de la Iglesia expresaron gratitud y entusiasmo por las bendiciones que el templo les traerá a ellos y a sus familias. Mas de 100 000 personas, entre autoridades locales, líderes de gobierno, estudiantes, periodistas y líderes de otras confesiones religiosas visitaron la edificación.

El Templo de Los Olivos se construyó en un terreno de una hectárea, ubicado en la parte norte de la ciudad de Lima, en la Av. Eloy Espinoza 680 Urb. Palao, San Martín de Porres. La cifra actual de miembros de la Iglesia en Perú sobrepasa los seiscientos mil.

El Templo de Lima, Perú, ubicado en La Molina, fue el primer templo construido en Perú y se dedicó en enero de 1986. Le siguieron los templos de Trujillo en 2015 y de Arequipa en 2019. Se anunció la construcción de otros cinco templos en Cusco, Chiclayo, Iquitos, Piura y Huancayo.

Las ceremonias que se llevan a cabo en el interior de cada templo enseñan acerca del propósito de la vida y unen a las familias, pasadas y presentes. Los Santos de los Últimos Días prometen guardar los mandamientos de Dios, apoyar Su obra, vivir la ley mayor que Cristo enseñó mientras estuvo en la tierra, ser castos y dedicar su vida a edificar la Iglesia de Cristo.
