Agencia Peruana de Noticias PRENSAPERU.PE https://prensaperu.pe/ Twitter: @prensaperupe En el marco de su visita de trabajo a Estados Unidos, el canciller Javier González-Olaechea Franco, acompañado del embajador Alfredo Ferrero, sostuvo importantes reuniones en Washington D.C. con el secretario general de la Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA), Luis Almagro, y congresistas del país norteamericano.

En encuentro entre el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores y el secretario general de OEA, las autoridades abordaron la posición del Perú sobre los principales retos del sistema interamericano y del fortalecimiento de la democracia en la región.

En la cita el canciller González-Olaechea reafirmó el compromiso peruano con el sistema interamericano de derechos humanos, el cual es expresado en la sólida candidatura de Alberto Borea a la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos (Corte IDH).

En el marco de su agenda el ministro sostuvo una reunión con la miembro de la Cámara de Representantes de los Estados Unidos, Nancy Pelosi, continuando así la conversación sostenida en San Francisco en el marco de la Cumbre de Líderes APEC 2023.

En la cita ambos dialogaron sobre la defensa de los derechos de los pueblos indígenas, su incidencia en el desarrollo sostenible y la democracia en las Américas.

Asimismo, la congresista Nancy Pelosi resaltó la relevancia de difundir los conocimientos ancestrales. Asimismo, felicitó la Presidencia Perú del foro APEC 2024, la cual permitirá exhibir al mundo nuestro potencial para las inversiones, el comercio, el turismo y los negocios.

También el canciller González-Olaechea tuvo una reunión con el presidente de la Comisión de Relaciones Exteriores de la Cámara de Representantes de Estados Unidos, Michael McCaul. En el encuentro dialogaron sobre la seguridad en la región y la importancia de fortalecer la cooperación conjunta para luchar contra la delincuencia transnacional organizada.

Durante la jornada el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores entabló un diálogo con el Copresidente del Grupo Congresal Perú, Carlos A. Gimenez quien recientemente visitó nuestro país. Ambos destacaron la positiva agenda bilateral y coincidieron en la importancia de reforzar la cooperación conjunta.

Finalmente, el canciller González-Olaechea sostuvo una reunión con el primer congresista peruano-estadounidense Robert García. Abordaron temas de mutuo interés como el diálogo político, la importancia de la democracia y el rol de las inversiones para el fortalecimiento de nuestras relaciones.
