El viceministro, al expresar su agradecimiento a la FAO por la cooperación que brinda al Perú, destacó que este “Marco de Programación País se ha constituido en una importante herramienta para establecer las prioridades del trabajo conjunto, articulando el valioso apoyo que brinda la FAO en función a las necesidades de nuestro país”.

En efecto, bajo el nuevo Marco, la FAO apoyará los esfuerzos nacionales frente a los desafíos que enfrenta nuestro país en materia de seguridad alimentaria, agricultura familiar, alimentación adecuada y saludable, así como de desarrollo territorial rural, cadenas de valor inclusivas y sostenibles e incremento de la resiliencia de las poblaciones y ecosistemas.

Asimismo, durante la actividad ambas autoridades destacaron la reciente aprobación de una resolución para la celebración del Día Internacional de la Papa, que reconoce la importancia mundial de este cultivo, del cual nuestro país es considerado principal centro de origen.

“Este día se celebrará a nivel nacional e internacional todos los 30 de mayo, para lo cual el Gobierno peruano viene organizando, con la FAO y el Centro Internacional de la Papa, diferentes eventos que permitirán sensibilizar acerca del aporte de este importante tubérculo a la seguridad alimentaria y la nutrición en el mundo”, puntualizó el vicecanciller.

La ceremonia contó con la asistencia del ministro de Desarrollo Agrario y Riego, Ángel Manero Campos; el ministro del Ambiente, Juan Carlos Castro Vargas; y el ministro de Desarrollo e Inclusión Social, Julio Demartini Montes.

The vice minister, in expressing his gratitude to FAO for the cooperation it provides to Peru, highlighted that this “Country Programming Framework has become an important tool to establish priorities for joint work, articulating the valuable support that FAO provides in “based on the needs of our country.”

Indeed, under the new Framework, FAO will support national efforts to address the challenges facing our country in terms of food security, family farming, adequate and healthy nutrition, as well as rural territorial development, inclusive and sustainable value chains and increasing the resilience of populations and ecosystems.

Likewise, during the activity, both authorities highlighted the recent approval of a resolution for the celebration of International Potato Day, which recognizes the global importance of this crop, of which our country is considered the main center of origin.

“This day will be celebrated nationally and internationally every May 30, for which the Peruvian Government has been organizing, with the FAO and the International Potato Center, different events that will raise awareness about the contribution of this important tuber to the food security and nutrition in the world,” said the vice chancellor.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Ángel Manero Campos; the Minister of the Environment, Juan Carlos Castro Vargas; and the Minister of Development and Social Inclusion, Julio Demartini Montes.
