Con una inversión de S/ 2,7 millones, Emape otorgó la buena pro para la ejecución de la obra al Consorcio Vial Mallorca. En la primera etapa, se va a intervenir desde el jirón Andahuaylas hasta la avenida Abancay; seguidamente, en la segunda etapa, desde la avenida Abancay hasta la calle Villa Rica.

Durante la primera etapa de trabajo, los conductores que se desplacen desde el Callao hacia Lima deberán trasladarse por las avenidas 27 de Noviembre y Lima, siguiendo por la calle Puerto Barrios. En el sentido contrario, deberán utilizar las avenidas Universitaria, Lima y 27 de Noviembre.

Para la segunda etapa, desde el Callao hacia Lima contarán con dos alternativas, por las avenidas Perú y Universitaria, y también por las avenidas 27 de Noviembre y Lima, siguiendo por las calles Belén, Sao Paulo y Villa Rica. En el sentido contrario, deberán utilizar la calle Puerto Barrios, siguiendo por las avenidas Lima y Universitaria.

Los trabajos consistirán en la remoción del pavimento dañado, así como la imprimación y colocación de la carpeta asfáltica, a fin de agilizar el intenso flujo vehicular de esta importante vía de San Martín de Porres que conduce al Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chávez y limita con la provincia del Callao. Asimismo, se conservarán 5 mil m² de señalización vertical e instalarán elementos de seguridad vial (tachas retroreflectiva, amortiguadores de impacto y bolardos de metal).

Por encargo del alcalde Rafael López Aliaga, la calzada de la avenida Perú será renovada para mejorar la transitabilidad, traer modernidad y recuperar Lima.
