En el Palacio de Torre Tagle, el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores presidió la ceremonia de firma de este acuerdo entre el ministro de Justicia y Derechos Humanos, Eduardo Arana y la viceministra de Asuntos Bilaterales y Cooperación Internacional de Costa Rica, embajadora Lydia Peralta Cordero.
En la actividad, desarrollada en el marco de la V Reunión del Mecanismo de Consultas Políticas entre el Perú y Costa Rica, el canciller González-Olaechea señaló que este tratado es una muestra de la “nueva visión que tenemos conjuntamente varios países de cómo, de manera mancomunada, luchar contra la delincuencia organizada transnacional”.
Durante su discurso el titular de Relaciones Exteriores resaltó la “histórica y siempre muy fructífera relación” entre el Perú y Costa Rica.
Asimismo, el canciller González-Olaechea señaló que, junto con el ministro de Justicia, trabajan en el desarrollo de iniciativas orientadas para fortalecer la democracia y combatir la delincuencia.
También estuvieron en la reunión el secretario general del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, embajador Eric Anderson; la embajadora de Costa Rica en el Perú, Flora Venegas; entre otras altas autoridades.
DETALLES DEL TRATADO
El acuerdo prevé el apoyo mutuo para la búsqueda e identificación de personas, citación de testigos, obtención de pruebas, recepción de testimonios e interrogatorios, ejecución de inspecciones judiciales, transmisión de información bancaria, así como el decomiso de ganancias derivadas del delito.
La firma de este tratado es una muestra del interés de ambos países en enfrentar los flagelos de la delincuencia organizada y reprimir la criminalidad y la impunidad.

DETAILS OF THE TREATY
The agreement provides for mutual support for the search and identification of people, summoning witnesses, obtaining evidence, receiving testimonies and interrogations, carrying out judicial inspections, transmitting banking information, as well as the confiscation of profits derived from crime.
The signing of this treaty is a sign of the interest of both countries in confronting the scourges of organized crime and repressing crime and impunity.
