La mandataria consideró esta acción como un paso firme en la dignificación del trabajo del serenazgo y un paso importante en la estrategia de seguridad ciudadana, pues en ese mismo momento juraron las juntas vecinales de todo el país a través de conexión por internet.

Previamente, el alcalde de Surco, Carlos Bruce, destacó la acción del Gobierno respecto al uso de armas no letales por parte de los serenos y las nuevas disposiciones a los motociclistas. “Son estrategias efectivas porque en mi distrito han bajado los robos de 4 celulares a uno por parte de motociclistas”, dijo.

La presidenta remarcó que, con la nueva ley, el Estado y el Gobierno dan un mensaje claro de que están del lado de quienes cuidan a la ciudadanía y no los tendrá desprotegidos en su tarea contra el crimen.

“Por eso firmamos esta ley que le da la autoridad al sereno para que use su arma no letal y le da poder de inhabilitar al delincuente, al que acecha la paz de nuestros hermanos en la calle y ponerlo a disposición de la Policía”, refirió tras invocar a la Fiscalía para que no se libere a los delincuentes.

Con el nuevo dispositivo legal, los serenos podrán portar pistolas de electroshock y usar implementos como los aerosoles de pimienta, grilletes y chalecos antibalas, un equipamiento que tiene por objetivo mejorar su capacidad de reacción ante situaciones peligrosas y proteger sus vidas.

“¡Nunca más serenos desprotegidos! ¡Nunca más alcaldes sin respaldo en su lucha contra la criminalidad! Acá tienen un Gobierno que está con ustedes”, puntualizó la jefa de Estado.

La presidenta Boluarte sostuvo que las juntas vecinales, que son más de 9 000 en todo el país, tienen una gran tarea y un gran compromiso, y el Gobierno trabaja de la mano con ellas para proteger a la patria. “No nos van a vencer aquellos que delinquen”, dijo.

De igual forma, reiteró su llamado a la unidad para forjar un Perú más seguro, y aseguró que su gestión continuará destrabando obras en salud, educación, transporte y agua potable, entre otros rubros, que por años han esperado los peruanos.

La mandataria expresó su compromiso de seguir trabajando intensamente hasta julio de 2026 para entregar un país mejor del que recibió en 2022.

“Yo recibí un país donde las divisas fugaban al extranjero, el dólar subía y los inversionistas no venían al Perú. Ahora es distinto, ahora quieren venir porque todos hemos podido conseguir su confianza. A la patria la hemos puesto en vitrina para que venga más inversión y atención a la población”, enfatizó.

“That’s why we signed this law, which gives security guards the authority to use their non-lethal weapon and empowers them to incapacitate criminals, those who threaten the peace of our brothers and sisters on the streets, and turn them over to the police,” she stated after calling on the Attorney General’s Office to prevent the criminals from being released.

With the new legal provision, security guards will be able to carry electroshock guns and use implements such as pepper spray, handcuffs, and bulletproof vests, equipment intended to improve their ability to react to dangerous situations and protect their lives.

“No more unprotected security guards! No more mayors without support in their fight against crime! Here you have a government that is with you,” the head of state emphasized.

President Boluarte maintained that the neighborhood councils, which number more than 9,000 across the country, have a great task and a great commitment, and the government is working hand in hand with them to protect the nation. “Those who commit crimes will not defeat us,” she said.

She also reiterated her call for unity to forge a safer Peru and assured that her administration will continue to unblock projects in health, education, transportation, and drinking water, among other areas, that Peruvians have awaited for years.

The president expressed her commitment to continue working intensively until July 2026 to deliver a better country than the one she received in 2022.

“I received a country where foreign currency was fleeing abroad, the dollar was rising, and investors weren’t coming to Peru. Now it’s different; they want to come because we’ve all been able to gain their trust. We’ve put the country on display to attract more investment and attention to the population,” she emphasized.
