Ayuda humanitaria: Conjunto de acciones solidarias, recursos y servicios destinados a cubrir las necesidades básicas y aliviar las condiciones de vida de personas o comunidades que se encuentran en situación de vulnerabilidad, pobreza o afectadas por condiciones adversas.

La comitiva partió desde la ciudad del Cusco conformada por Roberto Soncco Hilares, representante de la Iglesia; Grace Soncco, integrante del área de Comunicaciones de la institución en la región; Wilfredo Escobar, gerente de ADRA Cusco; y Maribel Morales, oficial de Emergencias y Gestión de Riesgos de ADRA, además de otros colaboradores de ambas organizaciones.

Luego de sostener una reunión de coordinación en el centro poblado de Chuquicahuana, el equipo se trasladó hasta la comunidad de Labraco, donde fue recibido oficialmente por Edgar Cusihuata Tunqui, presidente comunal, junto a las familias que serían beneficiarias de la actividad.

En esta primera parada, se hizo entrega de 60 kits con productos alimentarios de primera necesidad y 60 frazadas destinadas a las familias del lugar. Los pobladores expresaron su reconocimiento por el gesto, resaltando que este tipo de apoyos son fundamentales para poder sobrellevar las bajas temperaturas y las difíciles condiciones climáticas que caracterizan a esta zona de los Andes.

Durante el acto, voceros de ADRA y de la Iglesia compartieron palabras de solidaridad, aliento y vocación de servicio. En representación de la Iglesia, Roberto Soncco Hilares señaló que ayudar al prójimo es uno de los valores centrales de la enseñanza de Jesucristo, y agregó que contribuir al bienestar de estas comunidades representa tanto un privilegio como una responsabilidad moral para su institución.

Como parte de la agenda, los integrantes de la delegación visitaron varias viviendas de la comunidad, espacio en el que las familias pudieron expresar directamente su gratitud y mostrar su satisfacción por la ayuda recibida, la cual llega en un momento muy necesario para sus hogares.

Posteriormente, la actividad continuó en la comunidad de Capacchapi, donde el grupo fue recibido por Fortunato Huayta, vicepresidente de la localidad. En este punto, se procedió a la entrega de 60 frazadas más, que serán distribuidas entre las familias seleccionadas.

En su intervención ante los presentes, Roberto Soncco Hilares transmitió un mensaje de unión y esperanza, reafirmando el compromiso permanente de la Iglesia de Jesucristo con las labores de servicio y asistencia hacia quienes se encuentran en mayor situación de necesidad. Asimismo, hizo énfasis en la importancia de fortalecer la cooperación entre instituciones y vecinos como la mejor forma de enfrentar juntos los retos y dificultades que afectan a las poblaciones más alejadas.

Tanto las autoridades locales como los pobladores beneficiarios agradecieron profundamente a ADRA Perú y a la Iglesia de Jesucristo por el respaldo brindado, destacando que iniciativas como esta generan un impacto positivo directo en la calidad de vida de las familias y en el desarrollo y bienestar de toda la comunidad.

The Church of Jesus Christ and ADRA Peru join forces: solidarity aid reaches high Andean areas of Cusco, bringing relief to families in Pitumarca facing the Andean cold.

Peruvian News Agency PRENSAPERU.PE https://www.prensaperu.pe Twitter: @prensaperupe With the aim of providing support to the most vulnerable populations in the high Andean areas, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints and ADRA Peru joined forces to carry out an important humanitarian assistance drive in the localities of Labraco and Capacchapi, within the Pitumarca District, Canchis Province, in the Cusco Region.

Humanitarian aid: A set of solidarity‑based actions, resources and services intended to meet basic needs and improve the living conditions of individuals or communities experiencing vulnerability, poverty or hardship resulting from adverse circumstances.

The delegation set out from the city of Cusco, comprising Roberto Soncco Hilares, representative of the Church; Grace Soncco, member of the institution’s Communications area for the region; Wilfredo Escobar, Manager of ADRA Cusco; and Maribel Morales, Emergency and Risk Management Officer at ADRA, along with other collaborators from both organisations.

Following a coordination meeting held in the populated centre of Chuquicahuana, the team travelled to the community of Labraco, where they were officially welcomed by Edgar Cusihuata Tunqui, Community President, together with the families who would benefit from the activity.

At this first stop, 60 kits containing essential food items and 60 blankets were distributed to local families. Residents expressed their appreciation for the gesture, emphasising that this kind of support is vital in helping them cope with the low temperatures and harsh climatic conditions typical of this area of the Andes.

During the ceremony, representatives from ADRA and the Church shared messages of solidarity, encouragement and service. Speaking on behalf of the Church, Roberto Soncco Hilares stated that helping one’s neighbour is one of the core values taught by Jesus Christ, and added that contributing to the well‑being of these communities represents both a privilege and a moral responsibility for his institution.

As part of the programme, members of the delegation visited several homes in the community, where families had the opportunity to express their gratitude directly and show their appreciation for the assistance received, which arrives at a crucial time for their households.

Subsequently, the initiative continued in the community of Capacchapi, where the group was welcomed by Fortunato Huayta, Vice‑President of the locality. There, a further 60 blankets were handed over, to be distributed among selected families.

Addressing those present, Roberto Soncco Hilares delivered a message of unity and hope, reaffirming The Church of Jesus Christ’s ongoing commitment to service and assistance for those most in need. He also emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation between institutions and neighbours as the best way to face together the challenges and difficulties affecting the most remote populations.

Both local authorities and beneficiary residents expressed their deep gratitude to ADRA Peru and The Church of Jesus Christ for the support provided, highlighting that initiatives such as this have a direct, positive impact on families’ quality of life and on the development and well‑being of the entire community.
