Peruvian News Agency PRENSAPERU.PE https://prensaperu.pe Twitter: @prensaperupe Between January and July of this year, Tacna was the leader in the export of oregano and olives. In the first case, it concentrated 94% of the total shipments (US $ 10 million 636 thousand of US $ 11 million 342 thousand) and in the second case, 66% (US $ 15 million 923 thousand of US $ 23 million 948 thousand), reported the Association of Exporters (ADEX).

Lizbeth Pumasunco Rivera, the Commercial Intelligence coordinator of the Global Business and Economy Research Center of the CIEN-ADEX Exporters Association, said that the region can increase its shipments with added value, since they are of quality, but it must strengthen its skills.

“It is important to use business intelligence, analyze statistics (export, production), to identify opportunities and improve productivity and performance. Also promotional mechanisms (participation in fairs, trade missions or business roundtables) as they help to position the offer and minimize risks ”, he explained.

The figures show us great potential for Tacna to continue growing – he said – especially in the agricultural sector. The other mushrooms and truffles, paprika, ginger without crushing or pulverizing and maca flour showed significant growth in the last 5 years.

He recalled the growth in world demand for organics due to its contribution to health. “In The Packer’s Fresh Trends Report 2021 (USA), 54% of consumers reported the highest consumption of fresh food in relation to 2020; 78% buy fresh fruit, 73% opt for fresh vegetables and 45% now eat at home more frequently ”, he pointed out.
