Esta donación no reembolsable, que se da a través del KfW Banco de Desarrollo, contempla la construcción de 36 proyectos cicloviarios en Villa El Salvador, La Victoria, Cercado, Breña, Pueblo Libre, Surquillo, Miraflores, Santiago de Surco, La Molina, San Juan de Lurigancho, San Luis, Santa Anita, Los Olivos, San Isidro, San Miguel, Rímac, Independencia, Ate, Magdalena y Comas.

En la actividad participaron el alcalde de Lima, Jorge Muñoz; el director residente del KfW en el Perú, Simon Erhard; y el embajador de Alemania, Stefan Herzberg y Jenny Samanez, subgerenta de Transporte No Motorizado.

“Este es un acto importante, pues con él se concreta esta colaboración para ampliar nuestra red de ciclovías, a fin de tener un transporte adecuado, saludable, económico. Hoy tenemos la posibilidad de firmar este contrato e implementar más de 100 kilómetros de ciclovías”, sostuvo Muñoz.

Es importante señalar que a la fecha Lima cuenta con 294.35 km de ciclovías, de las cuales 17.4 km surgieron a raíz de la pandemia del COVID-19. Asimismo, el municipio limeño ha entregado la ciclovía de la Av. Carlos Izaguirre (1.8 km), que une Los Olivos, Independencia y San Martín de Porres, y viene construyendo una red de 13.82 km en San Juan de Lurigancho, donde ya ha concluido 4.7 km.

Así, 13 millones de euros serán destinados para la implementación de ciclovías metropolitanas, seis millones para ciclovías distritales en Surquillo, Miraflores y San Juan de Lurigancho, y un millón para consultoría de apoyo y monitoreo. Este servició lo contratará KfW hasta finalizar la ejecución de la donación.

Durante la firma, el director residente del KfW Banco de Desarrollo en el Perú, Simón Erhard, destacó que el acuerdo contribuirá al desarrollo de la infraestructura cicloviaria en vías metropolitanas y distritales, además de interconectar las existentes, facilitar la intermodalidad con el sistema de transporte público, aumentar la cantidad de usuarios de bicicleta y contribuir a la salud de la población.

Por otro lado, el embajador de Alemania, Stefan Herzberg, felicitó a la comuna limeña y a KfW por la firma del contrato, y expresó su deseo de que el uso de la bicicleta vaya en aumento en Lima y todo el Perú.

La cartera de proyectos “Construcción de redes de ciclovías y estacionamientos en Lima Metropolitana” permitirá implementar y ejecutar infraestructura cicloviaria en vías metropolitanas y distritales, a fin de reducir 2,300 toneladas de CO2 e incrementar en 5% los viajes diarios en bicicleta.

La Municipalidad de Lima seguirá implementando redes de ciclovías, con el objetivo de complementar el sistema de transporte público en la capital, así como fomentar el uso de este transporte alternativo y amigable con el ambiente.
