Agencia Peruana de Noticias PRENSAPERU.PE https://prensaperu.pe/ Twitter: @prensaperupe El presidente del Comité de Café y Cacao de la Asociación de Exportadores (ADEX), José Mejía Polanco, saludó la promulgación de la Resolución Directoral N° 0032-2023-Midagri-Senasa que prohíbe, a partir del 1 de agosto del 2024, el uso de plaguicidas químicos de uso agrícola que contengan el ingrediente activo clorpirifos.

Se debe recordar que el gremio solicitó en varias oportunidades prohibir su importación tal y como ocurre en otros países que tomaron esa medida a fin de garantizar la salud pública y la inocuidad de la oferta alimentaria.

La norma también prohibió, desde el día siguiente de su publicación, la importación, fabricación y/o formulación de plaguicidas químicos de uso agrícola y productos que contengan clorpirifos. Solo si está en tránsito con destino al Perú, antes de la vigencia de la norma, se permitirá su ingreso.

“La resolución también prohíbe el registro de nuevos plaguicidas químicos de uso agrícola conteniendo ese ingrediente activo, así como su comercialización, distribución, almacenamiento y envasado. Es una buena noticia ya que Perú debe mantener su imagen como proveedor confiable de alimentos”, dijo.

MENOS DEVOLUCIONES
Luego de precisar que poco a poco los países son menos permisibles a ciertos componentes que representan un daño a la salud pública, resaltó el compromiso de las autoridades peruanas con ese objetivo.

“Es una medida que esperábamos desde hace meses. La presencia de residuos de ese ingrediente activo repercutía en la devolución de varios productos como el café, cacao y quinua, por mencionar solo tres ejemplos. Ahora que se está avanzado en preservar la inocuidad, esperamos se reduzcan los rechazos”, enfatizó.

Mejía Polanco agregó que la Unión Europea evalúa ahora prohibir el ingreso a su territorio de alimentos con residuos del herbicida glifosato, cuya importación por parte de Perú, según cifras del 2021, se incrementó en 40%, en comparación del 2020.

After specifying that little by little the countries are less permissible to certain components that represent a damage to public health, he highlighted the commitment of the Peruvian authorities with this objective.

“It is a measure that we have been waiting for months. The presence of residues of this active ingredient had an impact on the return of various products such as coffee, cocoa and quinoa, to mention just three examples. Now that progress is being made in preserving safety, we hope rejections will be reduced,” he emphasized.

Mejía Polanco added that the European Union is now evaluating prohibiting the entry into its territory of food with residues of the herbicide glyphosate, whose import by Peru, according to figures for 2021, increased by 40%, compared to 2020.
