Renata Forste y el M.Sc. Alberto Puertas.

La ceremonia también incluyó un reconocimiento especial a la Congresista Digna Calle, destacando su incansable labor en apoyo a la Universidad Nacional San Cristóbal de Huamanga y su firme compromiso con la educación superior en el Perú. Este gesto subraya la importancia de la colaboración entre el sector público y la academia para el desarrollo del país.

Este evento realizado en una de las universidades más importantes del Perú sobre todo en el sur andino de la nación estuvo cargado de mucho simbolismo y los reconocimientos trascendieron la simple entrega de títulos, convirtiéndose en un homenaje a la excelencia, la innovación y el compromiso con el desarrollo del país.

EL RECONOCIMIENTO A LA TRAYECTORIA
La ceremonia, presidida por el Rector Dr. Antonio Jerí Chávez, y con la presencia de los decanos de las diferentes facultades, no solo destacó los logros individuales de los homenajeados, sino que también subrayó la importancia de su impacto en la comunidad universitaria y en la sociedad peruana.

DRA. RENATA FORSTE
La Dra. Renata Forste obtuvo su licenciatura y maestría en sociología en BYU. Recibió el Premio del Servicio Nacional de Investigación en Salud Infantil y Desarrollo Humano mientras obtenía su doctorado en la Universidad de Chicago. Sus estudios de doctorado se centraron en sociología con énfasis en demografía y estadística.

La profesora Forste fue miembro de la facultad de sociología en la Universidad de Washington durante tres años antes de unirse a la facultad de BYU en 1995. Parte de su investigación se centra en la interacción familiar y la salud infantil en América Latina. Además, su investigación ha examinado las características que influyen en la formación de la familia y el compromiso de la pareja en los Estados Unidos.

Renata Forste fue nombrada vicepresidenta internacional de la Universidad Brigham Young (BYU) de Provo, Utah, Estados Unidos, el 1 de agosto de 2021. En esta función, Forste supervisa la Educación Continua, la Gestión de las Artes Escénicas y el Centro David M. Kennedy de Estudios Internacionales.

Su investigación se centra en la salud materno infantil, así como en los patrones de formación familiar. Gran parte de su investigación se ha centrado en América Latina. La investigación de Forste destaca la importancia de la educación materna para la salud y el bienestar infantil en regiones empobrecidas. Además, contribuyó a la creación del programa de Estudios Globales de la Mujer en BYU y ha impartido cursos sobre temas de población mundial, así como sobre estudios globales de la mujer.

M.SC. ALBERTO PUERTAS
Alberto Puertas, también ha desempeñado roles importantes en organizaciones como NCDA y Southern Cross Humanitarian, además de estar involucrado en organizaciones como Eagle Condor Humanitarian y Liahona Children’s Foundation, enfocadas en ayudar a comunidades desfavorecidas.

Alberto Puertas tiene una fructífera trayectoria académica, años de dedicación científica a la labor en educación intercultural y compromiso global. Alberto Puertas también es reconocido por su trabajo en desarrollo profesional internacional, incluyendo su rol en la NCDA y su apoyo a organizaciones humanitarias en países en desarrollo.

Su experiencia y dedicación son un ejemplo a seguir para los estudiantes y profesionales de la academia en todo el mundo.

LIFETIME RECOGNITION

DR. RENATA FORSTE
Dr. Renata Forste earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sociology from BYU. She received the National Research Service Award in Child Health and Human Development while earning her doctorate from the University of Chicago. Her doctoral studies focused on sociology with an emphasis on demography and statistics.

Professor Forste was a member of the sociology faculty at the University of Washington for three years before joining the BYU faculty in 1995. Part of her research focuses on family interaction and child health in Latin America. Additionally, her research has examined the characteristics that influence family formation and couple commitment in the United States.

Renata Forste was appointed vice president for international affairs at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah, USA, on August 1, 2021. In this role, Forste oversees Continuing Education, Performing Arts Management, and the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies.

Her research focuses on maternal and child health and family formation patterns. Much of her research has focused on Latin America. Forste’s research highlights the importance of maternal education for child health and well-being in impoverished regions. She also contributed to the creation of the Global Women’s Studies program at BYU and has taught courses on global population issues and global women’s studies.

ALBERTO PUERTAS, M.S.
Alberto Puertas has also played important roles in organizations such as the NCDA and Southern Cross Humanitarian, and is also involved with organizations such as the Eagle Condor Humanitarian and the Liahona Children’s Foundation, which focus on helping disadvantaged communities.

Alberto Puertas has a fruitful academic career, years of scientific dedication to intercultural education, and global engagement.
