“Keiko Fujimori reaffirms her alliance with the IDB to drive development, infrastructure, and preparedness for El Niño. Cooperation with the IDB encompasses areas such as financial education and state modernization, which are shared priorities.”
Peruvian News Agency PRENSAPERU.PE https://www.prensaperu.pe Twitter: @prensaperupe Within the framework of the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, President of the Republic Keiko Fujimori carried out an intense diplomatic and cooperation agenda that reaffirms Peru’s standing on the international stage. The Head of State held two key meetings: one with the President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Ian Goldfajn, and another with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Guy Parmelin — encounters that mark milestones in the country’s economic and diplomatic projection.
In her dialogue with the highest authority of the IDB, the solid financial and technical support provided by the institution to the Peruvian Government was reaffirmed. This cooperation covers decisive sectors for national well-being: transportation, sanitation, health, justice, agriculture, and disaster prevention, among others. The IDB also promotes cutting-edge research and innovative solutions tailored to the specific challenges facing Peru. The President was accompanied by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Elmer Cuba, who emphasized that this joint commitment focuses on urgent priorities: citizen security, quality education, modern infrastructure, and comprehensive preparedness for El Niño, along with the modernization of the State.
Minister Cuba explained that these efforts are coordinated through a Multisectoral Strategic Plan, which organizes and gives coherence to the actions of all competent entities to advance toward sustainable financial inclusion. Likewise, in alliance with the IDB, the Government is implementing national financial education initiatives — with the participation of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and other relevant sectors — aimed at strengthening public trust in the financial system and fostering a culture of responsible resource management.
Separately, accompanied by Foreign Minister Carlos Espá, President Fujimori met with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Guy Parmelin. Both leaders agreed that bilateral relations are excellent and steadily growing. They highlighted the sustained increase in Swiss investment in Peru and agreed to promote new opportunities benefiting both nations. As a concrete milestone, they confirmed the holding of the first session of the Peru–Switzerland Joint Economic Commission, scheduled for December 2026 in Lima — a forum that will open a new chapter in economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
