El proyecto “Creación del servicio de protección en las riberas del río Huaura vulnerable ante peligro de inundaciones” contempla la construcción de 19.44 kilómetros de diques enrocados y 12.31 kilómetros de muros de concreto, con una inversión superior a los 388 millones de soles.
Durante la inspección, el secretario de Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres de la PCM, Percy Mercado, destacó la importancia de la obra: “Esta intervención es fundamental para proteger la vida y los medios de subsistencia de miles de personas. Estamos supervisando de cerca su ejecución para asegurar que se avance con eficiencia”.
La visita de campo incluyó un recorrido por ambos márgenes del río y una reunión técnica con representantes de la Autoridad Nacional de Infraestructura (ANIN), entidad adscrita a la PCM y responsable de la ejecución de la obra, y de la empresa contratista correspondiente. En la cita se revisaron los progresos del proyecto y las acciones previstas para los próximos meses.
Al 31 de marzo la ejecución de la obra había alcanzado un nivel de avance de 41.61 %, incluyendo 13.89 kilómetros de diques enrocados concluidos. Los tramos terminados ya brindan una primera línea de defensa ante un eventual incremento del caudal del río Huaura.
Hasta el momento no se ha reportado crecida atípica alguna del río Huaura, lo que permite continuar con los trabajos en condiciones favorables.

As of March 31, the project had reached a completion level of 41.61%, with 13.89 kilometers of rock-filled dikes completed. The completed sections already provide a first line of defense against a possible increase in the flow of the Huaura River.
To date, no atypical flooding of the Huaura River has been reported, allowing work to continue under favorable conditions.
